'Dévan has over 40 years being both an osteopathic practitioner as well as a lecturer in osteopathic and clinical medicine. He has also been working in the medico-legal sphere for the last 14 years, receiving instruction from insurers and solicitors defending osteopaths who are being sued for medical negligence, These allegations often relate to missed pathology in the lower back region. It is from this perspective that Dévan has developed a series of talks to heighten practitioner awareness of those particular conditions/diseases, aspiring to increase patient safety by ensuring practitioners are up to date with current knowledge in this area.

This seminar will present a framework based on the most recent published evidence that is designed to assist physical therapists identify four serious pathology in patients who present with lower back pain:

•Spinal Fracture
•Spinal Infection
•Spina Malignancy
The framework also presents an evidence informed clinical algorithm that assists therapists make appropriate clinical decisions on patient management and referral when the suspect the presence of Red Flags.
